Simplicity goes a long way

Over the past week I have been super busy, haven't we all?  (Not here to glorify the act of being busy). Being busy and being productive are two different things. I have realised that neither food nor life has to be complicated or over-analysed and not everything fits into a one size fits all. Just... Continue Reading →

To Stop and Feel Alive

Runnersole

I cannot fully explain the sense of achievement that I felt doing nothing! Last night, for the first time in 6 weeks I did not bring work home with me. I made a pact with myself that I was not going to do anything work related once I stepped foot into my home. What a night I had!

I kept my promise to myself and actually managed to be in the here and now. I was fully present in my own personal space, with my family – in my home. It felt amazing to let go, to know that I could and I deserved a night off. When work and home start to mesh into one it’s not healthy. Let go – be selfish as much as it can be hard

you’re actually being selfish if you’re not being ‘selfish’

Got Me Thinking

While recently watching the latest episode of 'The Goldberg's' (gotta love a sitcom set in the 80's where political correctness goes out the window) I got to thinking. The premise - a jar to better oneself! Since day 1 of 2017 my plan was to run a marathon in 2017. Not for anyone but for... Continue Reading →

Re-start

Healthy eating! Sometimes it's easier to say than do! I try to be healthy but we all slip-up. Social functions, the stress of life - sometimes we just don't make the right choices. We exercise a little more and therefore think we can eat a little more. Hunger goes out the door and we eat... Continue Reading →

10 percent

Some days you run without a time, pace or distance in mind. No music, no Garmin just you and the elements. Other days you run with intent. Intent to run faster, further to push yourself and then you get that warning sign 10%. You have no way of knowing if your mini goals have been... Continue Reading →

What’s in a name

As a teacher you are required to learn all your students' names. It's good practice, it helps build rapport, it's part of the job. The ones with character, the naughty ones, the loud ones - those names you remember. I am usually good at learning names but a few weeks in and a new school... Continue Reading →

Why Lyrics stick

It always starts with you singing a line or two and then wondering what song is that, who sang it, did I hear it today and am I even singing the correct words? "Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale!" Music is so... Continue Reading →

Acclimatisation

I have always been an early morning runner. If I didn't get my run in  around 5am then I was doomed for the day. Over time, as life gets busier it's about finding the time. The other night I decided I was going to get a run in and so I did. Around 7:30 out... Continue Reading →
